In this fun, autumn inspired tutorial I’ll show you how to create a sense of form using contoured brushstrokes, highlights and shadows.

Pumpkins make fantastic subjects to paint because they have such a distinctive shape and colour. The perfect subject for you to practice how to make a 3D shape look believable on a flat page.
After taking this class you’ll have your own beautiful pumpkin painting, perfect for cards or decorations this Autumn and you’ll have a new confidence for how to approach painting 3D subjects which you’ll be able to apply to your future painting projects.
I hope you enjoy painting your pumpkins as much as I did!
Materials you’ll need:
Round (pointed) brushes in a range of sizes (I used Size 8, Size 4 and Size 0)
Acrylic paints (Yellow, Red, White, Browns and Green)
Pencil and rubber
A painting surface like acrylic paper, canvas or a sketchbook
