First Meditations is a 1977 album by John Coltrane. Recorded in 1965 with Jimmy Garrison, Elvin Jones, and McCoy Tyner, it is an early version of what would become the Meditations album that featured Pharoah Sanders and Rashied Ali. These sessions would become the last recording of Coltrane’s quartet. This CD edition was released in 1992.
